Yu-Kyeong Hwang, Ph.D.


Yu-Kyeong Hwang, Ph.D., is Head of R&D at GCLC. Yuya has led all cell and gene therapy programs at GC LabCell corporation since 2014. Prior to GCLC she was a R&D project leader at the Mogam Research Institute for 20 years. Yuya’s research includes the development of therapeutic vaccines via T cell activation against chronic infectious diseases and cancer. She has focused on developing NK cell therapies for cancer treatment since 2007. She successfully conducted the world’s first clinical trial using mismatched donor derived expanded NK cells, and further clinical trials evaluating NK cell therapies in the treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma, acute leukemia and neuroblastoma. Yuya received her B.S and M.S degree in biology from Ewha Womans University. She earned a Ph.D. degree at Ajou University, School of Medicine, and completed postdoctoral training at Indiana University, School of Medicine.
