Thad Huston

Chief Financial Officer

Thad Huston is a global finance and operations executive with more than 30 years of leadership experience across pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, and medical devices. He has led finance, operations, commercial, information technology, investor relations, and business development organizations across North America, Europe, and Asia, with a consistent focus on scaling innovation-driven healthcare companies through periods of strategic transformation and growth. Prior to Artiva, Mr. Huston served as CFO and COO of Galapagos NV, where he led a fundamental strategic shift from small-molecule immunology R&D to a focused cell-therapy oncology company. During his tenure, he oversaw a portfolio of programs advancing through multiple clinical trials, led the building of a decentralized manufacturing platform for cell therapy, and supported the divestiture of its European commercial business. Prior to Galapagos, he was SVP of Finance and Corporate Operations at Kite Pharma, a Gilead company, where he oversaw finance, IT, facilities, procurement, and operational excellence, and played a central role in long-range planning, growth initiatives, and external partnerships. Earlier, he served as CFO of LivaNova PLC, leading portfolio repositioning efforts, divesting non-core assets, and rebuilding the neuromodulation and cardiovascular pipeline through acquisitions. He spent more than 25 years at Johnson & Johnson in progressively senior roles, including Group CFO of Medical Devices and the commercial President of the Xi’an Janssen joint venture in China. Mr. Huston holds a B.S. in finance from The Pennsylvania State University and is a certified management accountant.
